Picking a gym
So it's back to the gym for me. I'm determined to get back into shape and this time i figured I'd blog about my experience. Just to give everyone some background on me and my workout experience, I am 28 years old, played high school football and tennis, and am relatively active. I quarterback our flag football team, and generally like doing outdoor activities including hiking, swimming, kayaking, etc. I haven't belonged to a gym for about 4 years now, but do workout at home with some home weights that I have. Before quitting the gym 4 years ago, I was in pretty good shape, and had a personal trainer for about 6 months to teach me some routines that I could use and to get me started down the right path. I was working out at Gold's gym which I found had all the equipment I needed, but lacked some of the facilities I would have liked to make use of such as a pool, basketball courts, or any other type of "fun" workout stuff. This time around, I figured I'd take a look at all the gyms near my house to find one that might help me stay commited to the gym. There are 3 gyms near me: Golds, Lifetime Fitness, and 24 Hour Fitness. there may be some other smaller ones as well, but those are the 3 that I'm going to be evaluating in the next few weeks. So this week I'm going to sign up for a 7 day trail pass to 24 Hour Fitness to give them a try. I'll report my experience here on this blog so you all can follow along.
